Archie Thompson bounded off of the bench to get the all important goal that booked Melbourne Victory a third A-League Grand Final berth after an extra time win over Sydney FC in their major semi-final on Sunday.

Thompson netted a 113th-minute winner at the Sydney Football Stadium after the second leg had finished 2-1, a reversed scoreline from the first leg at Etihad Stadium two weeks ago.

The striker's goal ensured defending champions Melbourne will host the grand final in a fortnight at Etihad Stadium, while Sydney must now play Wellington Phoenix at home next Saturday for a second shot at a spot in the decider.
