Wellington Pheonix snatch a place in next week's A-League Preliminary Final with a nail biting 3-1 win over Newcastle Jets in front of 32,792 fans at Westpac Stadium yesterday afternoon.
The Phoenix had to do it the hard way, with the Jets silencing the huge crowd by taking the lead thanks to a brilliant strike from Matthew Thompson in the 20th minute.
But the crowd was back in full voice just 13 minutes later when Tim Brown scored the equaliser.
Despite several great chances at both ends of the park, neither team could break the deadlock in the second half and the match went to extra time.
